(Relaunching soon.)
A sampling of my work and the projects I have produced and been fortunate to be involved in.
(Launching soon.)
No, I am not John Perry Barlow.
My name is Jon. When I was a kid, I loved to draw. Somehow, I always knew that I would wind up doing something creative for a living.
Starting out, I was strictly a graphic designer. I cut my teeth on programs like Photoshop 2.5, Illustrator 5.5 and PageMaker 4, which was seriously better than the alternative of doing actual paste up.
Fortunate for me the internet exploded in the mid 90's. In a short amount of time, I was changing my way of thinking from CMYK to RGB, 300dpi to 72ppi, pica to pixels, and all of the things that had been consistent from print job to print job were now variable elements from browser to browser.
The freedom and fluidity that the web provided made design exciting and refreshing again. I no longer had to pull my hair out worrying about the many different technical and financial variables that could affect the printing process.
As I learned more about the standard practices and processes of web design and web development, I begin to incorporate those standards with my own personal experiences, theories, and optimization techniques.
Since 2005, I've become quite engaged in the areas of search engine marketing (SEM), search engine optimization (SEO), and the art of web tracking analytics. I have learned and experienced so many new technologies and strategies, that my creativity feels refreshed and vibrant. New experiences, social media channels, and concepts seem to emerge every day, and it is truly an exciting time to be immersed in all the interactive field has to offer. Creativity comes in many different flavors in the digital space, and I have always been one to sample everything.
During school days...
I work for a rapidly growing retail dentistry chain as the Interactive and Social Media Marketing Manager.
In this position, I am responsible for providing strategy and direction for all online, digital, email, and social media marketing aspects.
In addition, I also oversee and manage the maintenance, development, and production of the corporation's web sites and public web-based initiatives.
Previously I have worked in consulting firms and agencies.
On the weekends...
I'll be honest; I love computers and the internet. I spend a large amount of my free time in front of the screen, designing, learning, and sometimes just surfing.
However, in addition to the geeky computer stuff I do enjoy getting away from the digital world too. I love to spend time with friends, exploring new places, taking in and experiencing as much life as I can. People watching is also a favorite thing to do.
I play guitar, and have been a frustrated rock star for over twenty years. Weight lifting, wakeboarding, softball, drawing, and becoming the ultimate home improvement specialist tends to fill up the remainder of my time.
